Grades Holi Celebration
3/24 - WSNO Grades Holi Celebration -
This is a wonderful Spring festival the school tried last year. It is back by popular demand and more classes will be participating. Grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 will join in on the fun this year. While all sorts of spring energy is bursting forth around us, Holi comes in with renewed hope, color, and joy, welcoming Spring. When we think about a more eternal seasonal calendar, this festival is right at home here in the spring.
Although Holi is a Hindu Festival of Spring, it is widely celebrated by Indians of all faiths and by communities around the world. Like so many celebrations, good triumphs over evil, and family and friends celebrate together! Before Friday we'll write down any gripes, grudges, or worries, and burn them. Clearing out this bad makes way for new growth. Fire has a wonderful regenerative place and helps make way for all the good that comes the next day with the dye battle.
You may want to make sure your child has a white shirt or outfit that could turn many colors! I had a blast last year and nearly everything washed out with two washed, but I would advise you to bring a towel for pickup, and know that oil and warm water are the best at cleaning the dye off of skin. The class is already pretty excited.
